Boot Camp program for Vocal Music Students, 2015
The Boot Camp is a program of the NYC Department of Education, Office of Special Projects, and Lincoln Center Education. For the second summer, entering 8th grade students in Music, Dance, Theater and Visual Arts spend 2 weeks working on the auditions and portfolio presentations, as well as technique and repertory, to prepare for applications to the specialized high school programs in the arts.
The 35 vocal music students had an orientation tour of the material in the Circulating and Research Collections, and saw the Headshots and Geoffrey Holder exhibition . They worked in teams to solve a Scavenger Hunt to search and locate published classical, theater and popular music, recordings and videos for their voices using the catalogue and Song Index.
