Rowan highlights the most important issues facing the conference: jobs, police brutality (as illustrated by the beating death of Arthur McDuffie by Miami police), housing and the internal struggle on the board of the NAACP. Included in the program are excerpts of speeches made to the delegates by the 1980 Democratic presidential candidates, Kennedy, Anderson and Carter.
