Summary
  1. Portraits of United States Army Brigadier General Benjamin O. Davis, Sr., taken mainly during the 1940s. Collection consists of quarter-length studio portraits of Davis, as well as group portraits and views of Davis attending various military functions and ceremonies, talking and eating with military personnel, meeting with the Presidential party from Liberia, and with a group of newsmen. Among those depicted with Davis include William V.S. Tubman, Edwin Barclay, Alford Russ, Walter Walker, Leon Henderson, Douglas Crier, Gaston Woel, William Spence, Truman Gibson, Frederick Hibbard, Emmett J. Scott, Henry Villard, John C.H. Lee, and Carlton Moss. Davis is also depicted in civilian attire shortly after he retired from the military (1948). Many full and half-length views are included.
