  1. Schomburg Center's Manuscripts, Archives & Rare Book Division's copy is probably a pre- 1926 item. The book includes stamps of: "Division of Negro Literature and History," "Property of the City of New York," and "The New York Public Library: Circulation Department, 135 Street Branch, 103 West 135th St. on several parts of the book. It contains also a "Reference Collection of Negro Literature" bookplate. it has an NYPL's perforated stamp, which indicated it was probably it was later transferred the Schomburg Collect. Imperfect: Brittle, torn, loose pages, treated and bound in navy cloth over boards, library binding, and a gilt spine.
  2. Title page includes stamp from former owner: "New York -- Garden Library -- Southern Society," and also includes some illedgible inscribstion.
