  1. The 1st work sung in Latin and German; the 2nd in German.
  2. Original 1723 version of the Magnificat, including 4 extra-liturgical interpolations (Vom Himmel hoch, Freut euch und jubiliert, Gloria in excelsis, Virga Jesse floruit) omitted when Bach transposed the work to D major.
  3. The 2nd work is an arrangement by Bach (new orchestration and new German text) of an earlier Latin motet by Johann Kuhnau. Not listed in Schmieder.
  4. Program notes by Adrian P. Powers and Stephen Daw in English, French and German, and texts with English translations ([4] p. : port.) inserted in container.
