  1. Sabine Baring-Gould (1834-1924) was an English author and clergyman. A prolific writer, his published works included religious works, travel narratives, novels, verse, biography, and amateur antiquarian studies. He is probably best known for writing the hymn "Onward Christian Soldiers."
