1. Hu Hung Yen, Chinese opera performer, is shown applying make-up as a brief history of the Peking opera, its costumes, make-up, and audience, is given by Beate Gordon. Stills of the various types of make-up to indicate character are shown. Miss Hu demonstrates patterns and movements used in the opera, such as opening and closing a door, fright, love, etc. An excerpt from an opera, The butterfly dream, and a scarf dance are performed by Miss Hu.
