Video makers John Sanborn and James Byrne talk about their interest in videodance, including the challenges of capturing the impact of movement on video, their experiments with special effects and state-of-the-art technology, the response to videodance among the media and the dance community, and the influence of music videos. Examples of their work screened on the program are: This body this place unnamed (from the video anthology Solo!), a collaboration between Wendy Morris and Byrne; No. 22 (Alan Sener and Holly Schiffer/Sanborn); Set and reset (Trisha Brown/Byrne); Visual shuffle (Charles Moulton/Sanborn); Lament (b&w) (Eiko and Koma/Byrne); and Dance ex machina (Cyndi Lee and Mary Ellen Strom/Sanborn). Most of these works are discussed, as well as Olympic fragments (Sanborn) and Fractured variations, (Moulton/Sanborn).
