Summary

1. Photographers Jack Vartoogian and Herbert Migdoll talk about some practical aspects of their work, including access to performances, usage fees, and copyright. In discussing the issue of aesthetic control by dancers and others, Vartoogian cites his cooperative work with dancer Donna Wood. Migdoll discusses his use of special techniques such as time-lapse, solarization, and montage, and shows examples of each. Vartoogian describes the appeal of non-western dance, and displays some photos of this genre. In Profile, photographer Jack Mitchell briefly discusses his working methods and his perceptions of what makes for an exciting dance photograph.
