Description
  1. 1 videocassette (U-matic, NTSC) (29 min.) : sd., col.; 3/4 in.
Summary
  1. Choreographers Mary Overlie and Rachelle Bornstein recall their backgrounds in dance, and discuss how their attraction to theater affected the evolution of their work. They talk about the importance of stage presence and making contact with the audience, and describe their movement philosophies, which for Bornstein involves the use of actors rather than highly trained dancers. Overlie discusses the term postmodern dance, and both guests share their experiences and observations during recent trips abroad, Bornstein to Malaysia and Overlie to Denmark. Performance excerpts depict Otrabanda, an experimental theater company with which Bornstein is associated, in Brain café, Quasi-kinetics, and Labor of love. Overlie's choreography is represented by Small dance and My heart dances.
