Summary
  1. Documentary on the life and work of Ruth Page, profusely illustrated with film and video footage of her ballets. The documentary follows her from her childhood in Indianapolis to her membership in the Pavlova, Bolm, and Ballets Russes companies; her marriage to Tom Fisher; her collaborations with Harald Kreutzberg and Isamu Noguchi; the creation of her early works for Chicago's first ballet company, and her Americana ballets, notably Frankie and Johnny; her choreography for the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo; her opera ballets and ballet versions of operas; the establishment of the Ruth Page Foundation School of Dance; and television re-creations of her ballets. Commentaries are offered by her brother Irvine; critics Clive Barnes, Anna Kisselgoff, and Ann Barzel; arts administrator Ardis Krainik; dancers Betsy Ross Davis, Frederic Franklin, and Maria Tallchief; as well as several longtime members of her Chicago-based companies: Larry Long, Orrin Kayan, Dolores Lipinski, Kenneth Johnson, and Patricia Klekovic.
