  1. Welcoming remarks by Madeleine Nichols, curator of the Dance Collection, followed by a discussion by Maria Tallchief, Violette Verdy, and Edward Villella, with Robert Gottlieb. The panelists comment upon and reminisce about ballets seen in film and kinescope screenings. Additional ballets discussed include: Orpheus, Harlequinade pas de deux, Swan lake, A midsummer night's dream, Bourrée fantasque, Scotch symphony, Liebeslieder walzer, Symphony in C, and Apollo. Topics include Balanchine's use of different styles as a means of educating his dancers and the audience, the guidance he offered dancers in learning roles, and the problems of restaging ballets marked by the personal qualities of their creators.
