  1. CONTENTS: The red, white and blue shoes (approx. 16 min.). Documentary on the 1980 Prix de Lausanne competition, highlighting an American entrant, Nancy Raffa of New York City. Nancy is seen in New York in the class of her teacher Gabriela Taub-Darvash, and in Lausanne participating in classes, working with her coach Nora Kovach, and performing the solo Spring waters, choreographed by Darvash, that won her the competition's gold medal. Also seen in performance are Deborah Bull in the polka from Ashton's Façade, Alessandri Ferri in an excerpt from Ashton's Ondine, and Gen Horiuchi in the Don Quixote male variation. Patricia Wilde, a member of the jury, is interviewed. -- [Interview with Philippe Braunschweig] (approx. 8 min.). Braunschweig, the founder of the competition, discusses its organization and goals. Two current participants, Valérie Ghiglione and Patrick Armand, respectively perform the Coppélia Act III variation and an excerpt from a Peer Gynt ballet to the music of Grieg.
