The Oral History Interview with Donna Wood documents her dance career, her work for Philip Morris, and the activities of the Donna Wood Foundation.Topics covered include: Growing up in Dayton, Ohio.; early interest in dance; influences of dance teachers Geraldine [Blondon] and Josephine and Irving Schwartz; Dayton Ballet Co.; studying with the Dance Theatre of Harlem; auditioning for a number of NYC dance companies; joining the Ailey Co.; training with Judith Jamison and Alvin Ailey; "Cry," "Revelations," and other significant Ailey works; what the Ailey Co. means to her; the decision to retire; teaching dance; Broadway performances; dance preservation; working for Philip Morris as Manager of External Affairs; marriage; and the establishment and future goals of the Donna Wood Foundation.
