Summary
  1. Rudolf Nureyev's New York debut as a conductor, performed at American Ballet Theatre's spring gala, which also featured guest appearances by Sylvie Guillem and Laurent Hilaire, both of whom had been named étoiles of the Ballet de l'Opéra de Paris during Nureyev's directorship. Nureyev receives flowers at his bow after the performance, and takes several curtain calls both with others and alone.
