La belle au bois dormant s'eveille à l'Opéra [videorecording] / presented by Baronne Guy de Rothschild, with the participation of Douce François ; [video] directed by Jacques Bernard.
Scenes from a lavish party given by Marie-Hélène de Rothschild, which was originally intended to celebrate the premiere of Rudolf Nureyev's version of The sleeping beauty (postponed due to a strike). The Opéra's Palais Garnier, where the event was held, was elaborately decorated on the theme of The sleeping beauty, with actors costumed as fairy-tale characters. The high point of the recording is the presentation of an enormous birthday cake to Rudolf Nureyev, whose birthday was March 17. Also recorded, in video footage and still photographs, are the many guests in their festive attire. Except for a brief glimpse of the Sleeping beauty's awakening, there is no dance content on this tape.
