Contents
  1. The firebird (excerpts) (ca. 9 min.) / probably filmed at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York, N.Y., during American Ballet Theatre's spring 1977 season; choreography, Michel Fokine, staged by Christopher Newton; scenery and costumes, Natalia Gontcharova; lighting, Nananne Porcher; danced by Natalia Makarova (the Firebird), Erik Bruhn (Ivan Tsarevitch), others. Excerpts from a ballet danced to music by Igor Stravinsky.
  2. Raymonda (excerpts) (ca. 9 min.) / filmed at New York State Theater, New York, N.Y., and possibly other locations; filming dates not identified, probably 1975 or later; choreography, Rudolf Nureyev after Marius Petipa; scenery and costumes, Nicholas Georgiadis; danced by Erik Bruhn (Abdul-Rakhman), Rudolf Nureyev (Jean de Brienne), Cynthia Gregory (Raymonda), and others. Excerpts from a ballet danced to music by Aleksandr Glazunov. Most of these excerpts focus on the character Abdul-Rakhman, a Saracen warrior whose exotic and dangerous persona both attracts and repels the heroine Raymonda. In the first 6 min., Raymonda dances with Abdul-Rakhman and performers of the Indian and Spanish divertissements he brings to entertain her; Abdul-Rakhman then fights a duel with Raymonda's lover Jean de Brienne. The segment ends with numerous bows and curtain calls, particularly those of Rudolf Nureyev. This is followed by an excerpt appearing out of sequence, depicting Abdul-Rakhman's solo.
  3. Giselle. Act II (excerpts) (ca. 9 min.) / filming location and date not identified, possibly in the early 1970s; choreography, David Blair after Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot; scenery, Oliver Smith; costumes, Peter Hall; danced by Carla Fracci (Giselle), Erik Bruhn (Albrecht), and others. Excerpts from a full performance of the two-act ballet, danced to music by Adolphe Adam.
  4. Giselle. Act II pas de deux (ca. 9 min.) / performed as an independent pas de deux; filmed at City Center, New York, N.Y., on Jan. 5 and 7, 1971; choreography, David Blair after Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot; costumes, Peter Hall; danced by Natalia Makarova and Erik Bruhn.
  5. Petrouchka (excerpts) (ca. 8 min.) / filming location(s) and date(s) not identified, probably 1976 or 1977; choreography, Michel Fokine, staged by Dimitri Romanoff and Yurek Lazowsky; scenery and costumes, Alexandre Benois; danced by Erik Bruhn (Petrouchka) and others. Excerpts featuring Petrouchka, drawn from all four scenes of the ballet, which was danced to music by Igor Stravinsky.
