The river (excerpts) (ca. 7 min.) / filmed at New York State Theater, New York, N.Y., on June 30, 1971; choreography, Alvin Ailey; costumes, Frank Thompson; lighting, Nicholas Cernovitch; danced by Natalia Makarova, Erik Bruhn, and others. Three excerpts from a ballet danced to music by Duke Ellington. The first two, "Giggling rapids" and "The sea," are danced by Makarova and Bruhn; the third, "Spring," is performed by the entire cast.

Epilogue (ca. 12 min.) / filmed at New York State Theater, New York, N.Y., on July 11 and 17, 1975; choreography, John Neumeier; costumes, Carl Michel; lighting, Nananne Porcher; danced by Natalia Makarova and Erik Bruhn. Complete recording of a pas de deux danced to Gustav Mahler's Adagietto from Symphony no. 5. Includes numerous bows and curtain calls.
