Summary

1. Inside/out is a series of outdoor programs in which dancers perform and discuss their works with audiences. In the first program on this tape, Victoria Marks discusses her choreography and she, Barbara Canner and Tom [Grunwald] perform excerpts from her work Anatomy of a triangle. Marks discusses her use of narrative and emotional content, analyzes the structure of the excerpts performed here, and describes the origins of the work.
2. In the second program on this tape, Rika Burnham discusses her choreography and presents excerpts from her past works and a current work in progress. Brief excerpts from Dances for a building, The alps, The glass project, Split image, Out in left field, and Hanky-panky are performed by three dancers, and Burnham comments briefly on the pieces. At the end of the program, Burnham discusses a work in progress created using excerpts from her past works and set to text by photographer Duane Michaels, and the dancers perform the work. At the end of the program, an excerpt from On thin ice is performed. Burnham discusses her use of objects and their metaphoric significance.
