Description
  1. 1 videocassette (VHS, NTSC) (59 min.) : sd., col.; 1/2 in.
Summary
  1. Part of The Studies Project, an ongoing series of discussions, performances, and other presentations. This is the first part of a discussion-demonstration by experts in the field of movement therapy. They begin by discussing the concept of the ideal dancer's body; the importance of body image, which can be changed; how the movement therapist can help the dancer reconcile aspirations and reality. Working with Christine [Wright?], a former member of the Lar Lubovitch company, they discuss how they assess an individual's posture and movement habits; the importance of seeing the body as a whole; adaptations caused by injury or physical limitations; restrictions placed on the dancer by the demands of a specific dance technique; the effects of psychological states on the body. Jean Claude West and Christine demonstrate the use of an apparatus that the therapist may use as an analytic tool.
