Description
  1. 1 videocassette (VHS) (10 min.) : sd., col. SP; 1/2 in.
Summary
  1. Raw interview footage used for the documentary Broadway, the American musical. Singer and actress in musical theater, film and television Kristin Chenoweth discusses her role as Glinda in the Broadway musical Wicked, prior to its opening at the George Gershwin Theatre. With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by Winnie Holzman, the show is loosely based on Gregory Maguire's best selling novel Wicked: the life and times of the wicked witch of the West. Chenoweth discusses her physical preparations for her part; coping with injuries sustained during the show's tryouts in San Francisco; the challenges of performing on Broadway eight times a week; how she shaped her character Glinda based on the audience response in San Francisco; the combination of chemistry and technique, which contribute to the rapport between her and other cast members; what she is focusing on as opening night approaches; the status of the production; the "scary" aspects of opening a show in New York, and her view that it is important to trust your judgment, and to present work that has value. Interview ends abrubtly.
