Summary
  1. Libby Appel discusses her career with Newsday theatre critic Linda Winer. Appel is artisic director of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, which is located in the mountains of Oregon, and attracts large audiences from the West Coast of the United States. Appel speaks about her early interest and education in the theatre, coordinating a Shakespeare Festival that performs more modern and classic plays than Shakespearean ones, the challenges of maintaining a resident company in a fairly remote location, and her desire to produce an "American" Shakespeare.
