Summary
  1. Anna Kisselgoff moderates a panel discussion with Maria Nefedova, music and artistic director of the Dmitri Pokrovsky Ensemble, and her interpreter, Maria Pyshkina. Nefedova discusses the life of Dimitri Pokrovsky who died in 1996 and discusses Pokrovsky's method of studying folk material. Nefedova also describes how the company uses folk material, the role of folk dances, the use of Stravinsky's music in the folk dance performed in Part IV of the program, and how Stravinsky used folk material. Nefedova introduces the various performances of traditional music and dance from different parts of Russia interspersed with the panel discussion.
