Kyra Nichols speaks with Kyra Lynn Kaptzan about her career to date at New York City Ballet; her soloist roles including Demetria in George Balanchine's work A midsummer night's dream; a typical work day schedule; the assignment of roles by ballet mistress, Rosemary Dunleavy; diet and leisure activities; her mother, the dancer Sally Streets; Nichols' childhood dance training; further study with Alan Howard at the School of American Ballet; her roles in the School's workshop performances and during her apprenticeship year with City Ballet; performing at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; Mikhail Baryshnikov's move from American Theatre Ballet to City Ballet; working on new choreography with Jacques D'Amboise and with Jerome Robbins.
