Summary

1. Bartlett Sher discusses the revival of Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific which he directed at Lincoln Center Theater. Sher describes working with the cast, his reaction to the script and to the James Michener stories that inspired it, and also places the show in its historical context.
2. Theodore S. Chapin, executive director and president of the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization, discusses the history of South Pacific along with Don Fellows, an original cast member from the 1949 Broadway production. This interview was taped for Theater talk in 1999.
