Summary

1. Playwright, librettist and screenwriter Arthur Laurents speaks on his career in theater and film, with emphasis on his first great success, the 1952 play The time of the cuckoo, its motion picture adaptation Summertime, and the 1959 musical Gypsy. He discusses several colleagues, including Shirley Booth, Kathleen Maguire, and Stella Adler. During the question and answer session with the audience Laurents talks about some of his other film work, including The snake pit, Rope, and The way we were.
