- Summary
- African-American playwright and poet Ntozake Shange discusses the productions of her plays such as "For colored girls who have considered suicide, when the rainbow is enuf," which was a 20-part poem that chronicled the lives of Black women in the United States and was eventually made into the stage play, and which was produced at The Public Theatre in New York City and moved to Broadway in 1976. She speaks about her professional relationships with Joseph Papp, who produced the play, and with other cast and production members, and about the critical and public acceptance of the shows. She also talks about the negative side of success of the show that effected her personal life.
