Katherine Dunham discusses her first visit to Haiti; arriving in Haiti; history of Haiti's independence obtained by slaves; her experience dealing with the elite people of Haiti; attending first healing ceremony with dancing, prayers, fire, participants having a general sense of well being and her feelings about the reasons people are healed; communicating with God and her feelings about how God hears us during prayer; the Vodou priest and priestesses and the tender care they offer; becoming a priestess because she was interested in healing.
