- Summary
- Author Max Wilk talks with theater director/producer William Hammerstein (Oscar Hammerstein's son) about his memories of seeing "Oklahoma!" and "Carmen Jones" while he was on leave from the war, and how the film versions of the musicals didn't measure up to the stage productions. Also, Hammerstein and Wilks discuss how the musical "Show boat" changed American musical theater forever, as did "Oklahoma!", and how "Oklahoma!" is the most popular performed musical up to this date. Finally, Hammerstein talks about the sad end of Rodgers and Hart (By Jupiter) and the beginning of Rodgers and Hammerstein soon after.
