Summary
  1. George Sears Greene (1801-1899) was a Union officer in the Civil War, a founder of the American Society of Civil Engineers and Architects, and was responsible for numerous railroads and aqueduct construction projects. These papers relate to a proposed tunnel "for carriage and footways" that would have extended from Manhattan's 7th Avenue under the Harlem River to Morrisania, the Bronx.
