Depictions of African Americans participating in jazz funerals in New Orleans, Louisiana, during 1969 to 1970, consisting of candid shots and views of musicians, pallbearers and mourners in funeral processions; views of spectators waiting for funeral processions; and individual views of the second line dancers following a burial, a tuba player going home after a funeral, and a mourner carrying the deceased musician's double bass at the burial site.

Biography (note)
  1. Leo Touchet, born in Louisiana in 1939 and raised in Abbeville, LA, has been photographing since 1965. His work has appeared in various publications such as Life, Time, the New York Times, Paris Match and Der Stern, and been exhibited in New York City, various locations in the American South and Paris, France. Touchet's photographic projects have included the Angkor ruins in Cambodia (1967), New Orleans jazz funerals (1969-1970), national and international horse racing (1972-1973), views of desert sand dunes in Venezuela, Texas and California (1993-1996), and damage from Hurricane Rita (2005).

  1. Leo Touchet, born in Louisiana in 1939 and raised in Abbeville, LA, has been photographing since 1965. His work has appeared in various publications such as Life, Time, the New York Times, Paris Match and Der Stern, and been exhibited in New York City, various locations in the American South and Paris, France.
