Summary

1. Panel discussion on the work of the playwright, touching on such topics as the training involved in becoming a playwright, how to get plays produced, working with directors, and related matters. David Rogers discusses his recent experience turning his non-musical play Charlie and Algernon into a musical. John Ford Noonan talks about the genesis of his Off-Broadway success, A coupla white chicks sitting around talking. Gus Edwards discusses his work with the Negro Ensemble Company, and how he developed his play Weep not for me. William Mastrosimone describes the process he followed with his drama The woolgatherer. Ronald Konecky, an attorney who specializes in legal issues concerning the theater, discusses his work, and the Dramatists Guild. The panelists also take questions from members of the audience.
