  1. One of the accomplishments of François Mitterrand's regime was the "Great Works" urban art projects. The new city of Cergy-Pontoise, a suburb of Paris established in 1969, was the site of the "Axe Majeur" by Israeli artist Dani Karavan and erected in 1981. Claude Mollard, one of the promoters of this colossal work, provides over 300 new images and archival material never before published.
