1. This research aims to explore and systematize the main discussions that have arisen in the field of the sociology of art in the last fifteen years. Its objective is not to make a teaching manual from the new sociology of art, but to contribute to other works that have gone in the same direction. Rather, it is proposed to develop an analytical framework that provokes among those interested in studying the relationship between art and society, the search for sociological explanations to artistic problems, as well as artistic questions to ongoing sociological reflections. "I do not hesitate to affirm that this book constitutes a milestone in the reflection on art in the sociology of Latin America.
