- Summary
- Proposes a philosophical approach to the concept of racism. Ch. 4 (pp. 191-214), "Auschwitz", discusses the philosophical and theological meaning of Auschwitz as a consequence of antisemitism. Reflects on its Christian "theologization". Challenges the present formal character of Holocaust commemoration in France, which lacks a real philosophical perception of the Jewish tragedy. Deals, also, with Adorno's post-Auschwitz philosophy, and with Claude Lanzmann's original and substantial way of presenting the Holocaust (in his film "Shoah").
