- Summary
- This book presents eight case studies of projects where women have initiated and run unique enterprises which have made an impact in rural areas in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean. No mere cottage industries, these enterprises have invaded such traditional male realms as construction, manufacturing, and transportation. When successful (and not all were), the projects elevated the status of the women involved in their communities, and the women were able to invest their profits in health care, education, and other businesses.
