Summary

1. Quantifies job creation effects of regional economic policies in specific assisted areas. Examines the mechanisms of job creation and the industries which responded to policy incentives. Concludes that regional policy has had a major impact on the spatial distribution of manufacturing industry in the post war period and that it continued to provide a significant boost to employment in the late 1970s.
