El panteón de las pelonas
[Ciudad de] México: Tipografía de la Testamentaria de Antonio Vanegas Arroyo, 1924
In this 1924 broadside La Catrina illustrates a rather sexist satirical love poem that ridicules one of the most transgressive fashion statements of the times: short hairstyles for women. Addressing the women, the speaker laments: “Your determination to enjoy yourselves / And to cut your hair, / Made your souls pass / From Earth to heaven. / Your being lost its charm . . . / And you lost therefore / The joys of your love.”
